Ogow Health Invited to Participate in the Humanitarian Innovation Forum Organized by Elrha

Ogow Health participated in the Humanitarian Innovation Forum organized by Elrha, held from February 11 to 13, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya. The event brought together innovation experts, humanitarian decision-makers, and funders to collaborate. Over the course of the three-day event, global leaders worked together to address urgent challenges in humanitarian innovation and explore transformative solutions for both current and future needs.

During the forum, Ogow Health pitched toolkits and participated in a roundtable discussion on Localization and Power Dynamics, sharing the stage with notable organizations such as the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), Response Innovation Lab and Action Against Hunger. This session focused on how local innovators and communities are integral to solving the challenges faced by the humanitarian sector.

The conversation emphasized the importance of aligning innovation with the cultural and social contexts of affected communities. Our Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalid Hashi, stated: ‘Innovation is not just about bringing local organizations in as implementers; it’s about making them integral to the design process. Co-designing, iterating, and learning together ensures that the solutions we create are deeply aligned with the needs of the communities we aim to serve, driving long-term, sustainable impact.’This insight reinforces our commitment to empowering communities at the center of the innovation process, ensuring solutions are not only effective but also culturally relevant and sustainable.

A key message that resonated throughout the session was the need for greater flexibility in donor timelines, funding, and procedures to support local communities in driving innovation. Ogow Health firmly believes that for innovation to succeed in humanitarian contexts, local communities must be integrated throughout the entire innovation cycle, from ideation to implementation.

As we continue our work in the humanitarian sector, Ogow Health remains dedicated to advancing locally-led solutions that create lasting impact and contribute to a more resilient future for communities in need.
