We are delighted to share the remarkable strides OGOW Health is taking to improve maternal and child health in Somalia, particularly in Puntland State. Recently, our Founder and CEO, Mr. Khalid Hashi, embarked on a visit to our project sites, and the outcomes have been truly transformative!
During his one-week visit, Mr. Khalid actively collaborated with esteemed leaders of the Puntland State Ministry, including Mr. Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed, the Director General of Puntland State Ministry of Health, Director of Primary Healthcare /EPI Mr. Abdirizak Abshir Hirsi, Mr. Artan Abdirizak HMIS Manager, and Director of Planning Mr. Idris Mohamed, alongside other key officials. The focus of these discussions revolved around the ongoing advancements in digital health initiatives that Puntland MoH, OGOW Health, and their partners have implemented to tackle maternal and child health challenges in the region.
Among our proudest achievements is the successful digitalization of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) data at the facility level. This initiative is currently being implemented across four regions and ten districts in Puntland, setting the stage for a more streamlined and efficient healthcare system. Since 2019, OGOW Health has worked closely with government agencies, humanitarian partners and NGOs in Somalia to co-design and activate contextualized solutions that are integrated with primary healthcare platforms ensuring that communities and children who are often missed and have not received any vaccinations are reached.
The State Ministry of Health’s senior leadership has expressed heartfelt appreciation for our contributions. Our innovative digital health solutions are designed to combat the high maternal mortality rates in Somalia, and we are committed to making a tangible difference in our nation’s health landscape.
Since partnering with the Ministry, we have worked tirelessly to introduce our life-saving innovations to multiple healthcare facilities, leading to profound impact. Through this collaboration, we have equipped hundreds of frontline workers across 4 regions and 10 districts with tailored solutions to register, nudge, track, and monitor adherence to individual immunization schedules.
Our mission’s core is dedicated to enhancing maternal and child health, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside the Ministry of Health, creating a positive impact on the lives of families across Somalia.
As a team, we draw inspiration from the progress achieved so far, yet we acknowledge that there is still much more to be done. Together with the Ministry, we are unwavering in our commitment to drive sustainable change, fostering a healthier and brighter future for all.
